ALLAN MANAGASE NAZARENO
Accomplished educator with demonstrated ability to teach, motivate and direct students in various fields of the performing arts with emphasis in theater and music (choral and instrumental). SPECIAL ACHIEVEMENTS ·
· Recipient of the "Tatak UP Award" 2015 (Arts, Culture and Design category), given to UP alumni who have given exemplary contributions to the Cebu Philippines community, leadership, expertise and demonstration of social conscience;
· Introduced, directed and developed all the musical theatre annual productions at Yew Chung International School Secondary from 2008-present;
· Headed the YCIS Secondary adaptation team and directed the world premiere performance for Disney's MULAN Dual Language Edition;
Co-director of the YCIS Rep (with his wife Cecille), Silver Awardee at the 2015 Australian International Music Festival with a performance at the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Conservatorium of Music and the Sydney Town Hall;
· Directed the first non-US school production of DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID for YCIS Secondary;
· Co-directed the Cebu premiere of DISNEY'S THE LITTLE MERMAID Jr. for Children's Paradise Montessori School;
· Directed the Hong Kong premiere productions of THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE (Hong Kong Singers) and THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE (American Community Theatre);
· Director of the YCIS Rep and the 2010 YCIS Show Choir, recipient of the Gold Award for Performance at the 2010 National Heritage Music Festival, New York City and representatives of Hong Kong at the Windy City Youth Music Festival, 2014;
· Presenter, East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS) Conference 2008 in Kuala Lumpur and at the Alliance for International Education (AIE) Conference 2013 in Beijing, China - “Developing Global Citizen Performers: A Primer on the Humanitarian and Performance Touring Experience”;
· Honored in the WHO'S WHO AMONG AMERICA'S TEACHERS in 2000 and 2001;
· Written Grants for the Guam Council of Arts and Humanities Agency, the Government of Guam and the National Endowment of the Arts in behalf of the St. John's School productions;
· Organized the humanitarian efforts a) to benefit children recipients for the 2007 Operation Smile Mission to Cebu and book donation to UP Cebu High School (Philippines), b) to benefit the children of the Pathlight School for autistic children in Singapore, the Rohingya children in Kuala Lumpur and the Bantay Bata children in Manila at the 2008 Southeast Asia Humanitarian and Performance Tour (Singapore/Kuala Lumpur); c) to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS for the YCIS NY tour 2010; d) to benefit the elderly residents of St. Dominic's Home for the Aged for the YCIS 2010 tour to Guam;
· Featured teacher in KUAM News Guam "Touch of Class" Segment honoring the best teachers of Guam (episode aired 15 Feb 2014)
